Joshua Tree Photographer: Family Photography Session with Marisa McDonald Photography
As a Joshua Tree Photographer, I feel pretty lucky. Sometimes people who live here take our sparse scenery for granted. I know it can get seem pretty desolate at times. But would you believe there are literally photographers around the world who have “photography in Joshua Tree” on their bucket list!? Its true! So I try not to take it for granted that I can drive 20 minutes down the road to these amazing boulders and joshua trees for a memorable family photo session!
I’ve always been pretty good at that part of photography…enjoying my desert environment, enjoying my subjects, enjoying the whole experience of me and a camera and real people. The part I am not so great at is enjoying the business side, the bookkeeping, the website maintenance, the contracts and invoices, the blogging. I’ve been trying to do better at this piece by piece. I loved this blog post I read (by a fellow law school graduate/photographer!) recently that encourages entrepreneurs (even creative types) to establish a daily routine! I need this! One of the ways I am doing this is trying to incorporate more blogging into my business routine. So here I am dipping back into one of my favorite sessions from the Fall that I never got around to blogging.
I first met Anne for coffee at Joshua Tree Coffee and we instantly hit it off. We were completely on the same page about capturing some sweet candid moments of her family. Most of my clients have younger kids so I admit I’m always a little nervous when I get teens and tweens in front of my camera. At the session my fears were quickly dispelled because these boys were complete gentlemen (and obviously so photogenic)! I also loved that even though the kids were older, the family connection was still so sweet! Add in the family dog? Perfection! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
