Marisa McDonald Photography Featured Session: Colorful Streets of Miami Wynwood Walls Family Session
I am so honored to have this Streets of Miami Wynwood Walls session featured on Life+Lens Blog today! For those of you who missed my social media posts on this session back in December, I’ll give you the back story on why this is a very special session for me…
I am a photographer based in the desert of Southern California, just outside of Joshua Tree National Park. This year we were lucky enough to go to Miami to visit with family for Christmas and we had quite the little family reunion this year. I promise I am not *that* old but the dad featured in this session is Tom and Tom is my nephew. We’ll just leave it at that and save you the back story for now! Tom, Shelly, and little Thomas also flew in from Georgia and happened to be in need of family portraits! I was thrilled to meet the newest family member (my great nephew?!) for the first time and take their first portraits as a family of three.
Those of you who are not photographers may not realize that professional photographers must check city specific and location specific permit requirements. Because this was a session for family (not a paid session), we had the luxury of roaming around as “tourists” without the need for permits and such. We ventured out early on the morning of the 24th and made a beeline for Wynwood Walls. When we arrived we were sad to find the gardens closed but began exploring all of the amazing art on the surrounding streets. I loved the Miami color and the look of the “street shots” and how they captured the essence of being out and about in the city.
Of course Thomas was the star of the show with his yellow pants and matching Toms shoes (so appropriate!). We had been at it for a good hour and were about to call it quits when we suddenly saw that the garden had been opened! We were so thrilled to be able to capture some of the amazing art within the gate before heading home to enjoy Christmas with the rest of the family! Thomas wasn’t quite as impressed so he decided to take a quick nap which was so cute! We got some great sleepy baby pictures while he snoozed! Bonus!
